How your children see the world and how they deal with life are influenced by their education. So is the strength of their personal character. The choice of determining where and how your children will be educated is one of the most difficult to make.
All schools and educational options have something to offer, whether the schools are public, private, religious, charter, home, or non-sectarian. However, there is also Christian Classical Education, which is different in that it is promoting the most proven form of education.
Christian Classical Education has produced some of the greatest and well-known thinkers, leaders, and scientists. Some of these great people were some of America’s Founding Fathers.
Leaders in every field persist to surface from the shattered heritage of classical education. Sadly, in its untainted form, classical education included a Christian world-view.
Why is Christian Classical Education so successful? Because it’s based on the Trivium. Regardless of how fast the child is learning, they go through three distinct learning phases.
Grades K-6 focus on memorization, grades 7-8 focus on forming arguments through logic and critical thinking, and grades 9-12 focus on independent thinking and communication. The Trivium effectively teaches children how to communicate through speech and writing.
Some of the subjects that are included in Christian Classical Education usually involve literature, history, language, art, math, and science. Some of the works that are read include Western literature and philosophy.
Learning Greek, Latin, and other classical languages are also common components in classical curriculum. Socratic teaching, class lectures, and debates are also some of the more well-known methods of classical teaching.
Christian Classical Education is probably more important now than ever before. As the world quickens its pace on technology, pop culture, and geo-political forces, our daily lives are constantly being restructured.
The skills necessary to get and keep a job are constantly changing. No matter how the world changes, we will always have need for great thinkers and speakers. People who aren’t afraid to learn new skills and master them quickly are desired in every field. Classical Christian Education has produced the very people needed in a changing world.
