Procrastination comes about because there is a part of you that doesn’t want to do the given task. With Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) you can get rid of that part of you.
Many people say that they need more motivation to get things done, which is partly true. But I would say that if you have set yourself a goal then you have all the motivation you will ever need. What’s stopping you is the barrier of negative beliefs and emotions.
When I was younger I used to put off writing my essays. It seemed like too much hard work, I wasn’t confident they would be any good, and there were always more fun things for me to do. I wouldn’t start them till the last minute when I’d realise that I’d get in trouble I didn’t hand them in.
That’s what people say when they need they want more motivation, they think they need to fear not doing something more than they fear doing it.
But you can get rid of the negative feelings that stop you going forward in the first place. When I help people get rid of procrastination I help them to identify all their negative beliefs around doing the tasks they have set themselves and tap those beliefs away.
When you think about taking the action that you want to you might find negative thoughts arising. I remember sitting at my desk with my work in front of me, telling myself I didn’t know how to start , that I didn’t understand the topic and that I’d never get it done.
It’s not comfortable to think those thoughts. So to distract yourself from the uncomfortable feelings, you distract yourself from their source, and go off and do something else instead. But of course the work itself isn’t really the source of the feelings, the feelings just arise from your own mind thinking the wrong thing.
By using EFT you can get ride of those negative thoughts by releasing the negative feelings associated with the thoughts. The thoughts won’t come up as often and will have less of an impact because the negative emotional component has been removed.
Don’t put this off - try Emotional Freedom Technique right now with this easy steps:
1. Start using EFT right now by having a look at the video Killing Procrastination which leads you through the process. If you want to have the best results it’s best to use on something that you would really rather not do. After the process you’ll notice it will be easier to get started on the tasks you’ve set yourself. If this is your first time using EFT then it might seem a bit odd, in which case you can have a look at the introductory video to get a better understanding of EFT.
2. Check out my E-Book - For a fuller understanding of how your limiting beliefs stop you achieving your goals, take a look at my Emotional Freedom Technique e-book. It includes clear instructions on how to find the negative beliefs that stop you achieving any goal you like.
It’s amazing how well this technique works. I used to hate tidying my room and doing the washing up, for example. When I tapped away all the negativity around doing those things I actually started to enjoy them!
When I tried this technique with my friend, we tapped away all the negative feelings and beliefs that were stopping him do his taxes. When we had tapped them all and he couldn’t think of any more, I asked him if there was anything else he wanted to work on… and he said no, he’d rather go and do his taxes.
You will have to be persistent, but the side-effects will be very interesting for you. Other areas of your life will benefit positively. In my personal case I found that using EFT on household chores stopped me procrastinating in other areas of my life.
I hope you’ll have the same result.
