Do you know why Love Handles are called Love Handles? They are called love handles as they provide a soft cushion like handle to hold on to when you place your arm around another person. And although the name may sound very sweet, they are not so good for you.
Love handles is actually a term for a layer of fat which gets deposited on the midsection, which accumulates sometimes very visibly over the abdominal external oblique muscles. This is the place where the body stores excess calories and fat. Any kind of exercise which gets rid of this fat may be referred to as Love Handles Exercises. Now there are many ways to lose these Love Handles but the primary objective should be to lose or burn the fat. This can be done by exercising more and making your life more active. The key is to start today and not to think about tomorrow as it never comes.
You can start by eating higher quality foods and perhaps just a little bit less than usual. Maybe you could create a habit of eating just two or three bites less than you currently consume. These things add up over time. Most people who are unhappy with their current weight eat two or three bites more than they probably should at each meal.
Many people think that by doing side bends or other exercises that focus on the obliques will eliminate love handles. This is not true. Of course this will firm and tone the obliques, and produce some positive results, but the fat is the primary culprit and must be burned off. That’s why aerobics and other cardio routines are so often recommended.
It’s important to be consistent with any workout routine. It’s not so much what you do, but how disciplined you’ve been at not letting your routine slip. Its being regular that produces the magic.
How to lose body fat is not a complicated problem. When we eat more calories than our bodies burn, those calories are stored in our fat cells for later use. And those places around our middle have more than their fair share of them.
Although excessive body fat can be a tough problem to tackle, keep in mind it’s not impossible. People do it everyday. Why not you? Help is all around you, but you have to make the decision yourself. No one can make it for you. When there’s a will there’s a way.
Perhaps you could join a gym in your area, or take an aerobics class. Many people have been known to stay in shape just by walking briskly around the block. Any and all activity burns some calories.
Try to increase your water consumption as well as the amount of fruits and vegetables that you eat each day. And try to spread them out throughout the day so that your body has a continuous flow of water and high quality nutrients to feed on.
You must take control of your diet intake. That doesn’t mean you can’t have your favorite dessert. It just means that you need to apply more consciousness to your portion sizes when you make your choices. Watch the carbohydrates and try to increase your protein.
Do you want really want to reduce or eliminate your love handles? If so, I want to encourage you, but also I want to let you know in advance that it will take some time. Those love handles did not appear overnight, although it may seem as if they did. And they will not disappear overnight either. But you can do this. Make a commitment to yourself and persist.
