Dave Lakhani is a talented speaker, author and trainer. His areas of expertise are marketing and business strategy. Dave has been featured in several magazines including “Selling Power”, “Sales and Marketing Management”, “Entrepreneur”, “Business Solutions”, “Retail Systems Reseller”, “Integrated Solutions”, “Home Office Computing”, and “PC Magazine”.

Dave Lakhani’s number one bestselling book is called “Persuasion - The Art of Getting What You Want”. He has been a featured guest on television and radio programs including “The Today Show” and “Business Radio Network”. Not only has Dave studied other leaders in the sales industry like Jay Abraham and Zig Ziglar, but he is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Dave’s training techniques have been used by IBM, the U.S. Army, Rogers Media, Micron, GE and Wizard Academy. What’s interesting, though, is that he didn’t start in marketing. In fact, he was raised in the Branhamites cult, being trained as a preacher, but left to pursue many other jobs.

In the 1980’s, Dave worked as an undercover law enforcement officer in the drug department. Before that, he was both a professional fighter and even a cowboy. None of those jobs were satisfying, though. Dave didn’t discover his true passion until he began helping companies and individuals become more persuasive.

When Dave finally discovered his passion, he also learned something incredible that many others have learned: following your passion makes work no longer seem like work, and money seems to roll in with very little effort. Upon leaving the cult, Dave went straight to the Andrew Carnegie Library to try to come to an understanding of why his mother would choose to raise him in a cult environment. His learning was far more valuable when he learned how the art of persuasion can be applied to sales instead.

Dave Lakhani’s definition of persuasion goes something like “helping people come to their own most logical conclusion, which also happens to be one you share”. Persuasion isn’t negative like manipulation or coercion are. With persuasion, you’re simply helping people make a decision by drawing a conclusion from information presented. Manipulation on the other hand, is lying, misdirecting, or purposely confusing someone.

When you find a passion in which you truly believe, you no longer need to rely on manipulation. Your passion becomes infectious. People will see your passion, your goals, and your enthusiasm, and they’ll in turn trust that you have their best interest at heart. It builds rapport, and others may even follow in your footsteps.

Persuasion is used each day by each and every one of us. Whether you’re persuading your best girl to marry you, persuading your spouse that it’s time to add children to the family, or persuading someone to buy a used car from you, it’s an important skill to master if you want to find great success. Get what you want in life through honestly persuading people!
