Genevieve Behrend in her book Your Invisible Power wrote, “When your understanding grasps the power to visualize your heart’s desires and holds it with your will, it attracts to you all things requisite to the fulfillment of that picture by the harmonious vibration of the Law of Attraction.”

Wishes become horses so beggars can fly! The thoughts we have become manifest whether they are positive or negative. The Universe always delivers.

Overall the Law of Attraction is a very simple concept. We all remember fairy tales from our youth where every situation had a happy ending. This isn’t quite what you are going to get from the use of the Law of Attraction though. Instead you are going to become very aware of how you let things affect you. This is going to empower you to make changes to your behaviors if you want more out of life. One of the best ways to do so is to acknowledge the various issues that can arise for you.

1.Identify a Goal

This needs to be very precise and not just vague. While your goals will likely change as your life changes you are going to always need to have established goals. Change them though based on what is going on in your life and where you want to be.

A child would wish for a big car, a nice house - all the tangibles they can see with the ‘happy’ people around them.

A teenager would wish for lots of money to do all the things they want and of course a great looking person of the opposite sex to do those things with

Young adults may not be too interested in a long term career yet. They do search for jobs that can help them to pay the bills and have some fun though.

As a person moves into middle age they focus on being content and on enjoying what they have.

Too many people will become overwhelmed by what has to take place in order for them to reach a certain goal. That can result in negative energy surrounding them as they are afraid of failing. Yet once you start to write down the smaller pieces you have to accomplish it does get easier, and you will find more positive energy coming your way.

2.List the stepping stones you will need to cross to reach your goal.

It is important to realize that there are plenty of small things you are going to need to accomplish before you reach that ultimate goal. Since we can’t control all of the things that take place around us, we have to be as positive as we can with what takes place.

Just as you need to really evaluate your overall goal, you need to evaluate the road you are taking to get there. Think of it as you would a road trip somewhere. If your final destination changes then you are going to need to take another exit so you end up there.

3.Focus on your goal

We are not living in a static environment, where we can single-mindedly focus on our goals in life. Our focus often gets side tracked by events happening around us - either to us directly or to others who are close to us. We may set our sights on a brilliant career. However if family misfortune or ill-health should happen, our focus on building our career would need to shift.

It can be very difficult at this time to stay focused on that goal, but do all you can to keep it in the front of your mind. You don’t want to lose track of it or you will never be about to obtain it.

Keep in mind that everyone around you will be generating their own types of energy as well. It may be positive or it may be negative. You can’t control what they are feeling in their heart or their mind, but you can work to control your own. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to distance yourself from those that always seem to have a negative energy around them.

Our energies, positive or negative are controlled by our ‘well-being’ It is very difficult if not impossible to remain positive and radiate positive energies when things are falling around you or when you are surrounded by a pool of negative energies. Just as you are radiating energies that are attracting others of similar energy, others around you are also radiating energies, energies that could be stronger than yours.

That brings us to the next common pitfall with the Law of Attraction. We aren’t alone in this world by any means. That being said, what other people do and say is going to have some affect on you. The goal should be to surround yourself with others who are full of positive energy. They are going to help you to stay positive as well. You can turn to them for support when you are letting some types of negative energy get to you.

We aren’t on this world by ourselves and that means our lives are going to cross paths with many different people out there. We have to be ready for those that display negative energy. We can’t let them stand in the way of our goals we have set for ourselves. You will really have to be careful of this as many of us do have friends, co-workers, and family members that always seem to circulate negative energy.

You have all the pieces, but do not have the image. You would go through considerable as you work on the puzzle and keep changing your mind about what you think the image is meant to be

You have a clear image, but not all the pieces. It is difficult to put the puzzle together. Knowing you do not have all the pieces in itself is a deterrent to completing the puzzle with the pieces you have

Be prepared for that visualization you have to change from time to time though. This is natural because your overall goal may have to change along the way as well. You should be excited about what you are able to see though. You should be able to visualize the colors as well as the smells that are involved in that vision.

Since you often won’t have all of the pieces to the complete puzzle, Faith has to be present for the Law of Attraction to really work. It is unrealistic to believe that you are going to have all the pieces you need to move forward. This is a very common pitfall that too many people just can’t seem to get past. They don’t want to believe in something that is still in an abstract format. You will have to decide if you are willing to be focused enough to let your Faith help you go get past it.

The famous words of Winston Churchill certainly apply here. He once said that everyone single one of us will find that opportunity is out there. It is often in a form though that we don’t realize. So when we trip over it, we are too occupied with getting up and moving on as if nothing happened. In doing so though we fail to see that opportunity that was right in front of us.

Such is life. Depending on the energies we radiate we will attract people and circumstances. Depending on the surroundings in which we find ourselves, various opportunities will present themselves. It is then left to us to pick and choose our opportunities and to make the most of them. The journey of life will not take place with us standing on the starting block and focusing on the goal. We have to take that first step and the second step and then pick up momentum or else we will remain on the starting block and life will pass us by. We cannot stand on the shore and look for all the hidden rocks in the sea of life, and try and chart our course to our goal without taking the first step. The hidden rocks will keep shifting with the shifting sands.

We’ve just got to dive into life, come up every so often to sight our goal. Every so often we’ve also got to dive under the waves to sight the rocks and steer a course round them.

As Joan Curcio says, “Jump into the middle of things, get your hands dirty, fall flat on your face, and then reach for the stars.”
